Condition: excellent! A superb cast brass warrior-on-horse. The legendary God of War Guan Saint 關聖帝君 of The Three Kingdoms. The larger-than-life hero is draped in full armor, riding on the fierce steed Red Hare above swirling waves on a rocky mound. The face of Guan Yu is dignified and calm, with the serene essence of a Buddha that exudes a sense of austere majesty. A forceful presence to behold. Although the crescent blade has gone missing, the vigorous statue is empowered by several taotie ogre masks and three ferocious dragons on his armor. Marked by stunning realism, the figure's style and character appear consistent with the Ming depiction. Note that the gleaming solid brass statue weighs over 80 lbs. for FedEx shipping only. Guan Yu's life was lionized so much that he was deified as early as the Sui dynasty (581–618). Through culminating in generations of narrative, the 14th-century historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms made Guan Yu into a legendary hero. In 1614, the Wanli Emperor gave Guan Yu the title "Holy Emperor Guan. The Great God Who Subdues Demons in the Three Worlds, and Whose Awe Spreads Far and Moves Heaven" 三界伏魔大神威遠震天尊關聖帝君 as a Bodhisattva in Chinese Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. Guan Yu is the general paradigm of righteousness and dignity, worshipped by members on both sides of the law. The God of War is also venerated as the God of Literature and Wealth and is a tutelary deity of business in Asian cultures. *Authenticity Guaranteed.
